Alpine FFA students Rode and Riggin Babb recently competed in the 2025 Junior Breeding Sheep Show at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, showcasing their Southdown ewe lambs.
Rode placed in the top third of his class, with his ewe being pulled on the walk. Riggin, participating in his first-ever show, performed well in a competitive class.
The event marked a special milestone for Rode, who caught at the calf scramble in San Antonio last year — an achievement not seen from an Alpine FFA student in nearly two decades.
In addition to his showing success, Rode recently placed third in team roping with a clean run of 8.387 seconds during Rodeo 10 of the Region 2 High School Rodeo Association. He is set to compete at the region finals March 28–29 in Abilene.
Alpine ISD recognized the brothers for representing the district with pride and determination.
