Sky Island Trail Race Returns to Fort Davis for 10th Anniversary on Sept. 27, 2025

The Sky Island Trail Race will mark its 10th anniversary on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, with a challenging ultramarathon event set against the scenic backdrop of the historic Prude Ranch in Jeff Davis County.

Organized by Trail Roots, the race features 50k and 25k distances, drawing trail running enthusiasts from across the region to experience some of the most beautiful and rugged single-track trails in West Texas.

The 50k race will begin at 5:30 a.m., followed by the 25k start at 7:30 a.m. Sunrise is expected at 7:45 a.m., with runners in the 50k passing through the state park entrance around 9 a.m. Key cutoff times are set for 11:15 a.m. outbound at Skyline, 12:30 p.m. inbound at Skyline, and 1:25 p.m. at the park entrance return.

Lodging for participants and their families will be available at the fully reserved Prude Ranch and Indian Lodge, offering rooms, cabins, RV sites, and bunkhouse accommodations.
