Governor Greg Abbott has announced an expanded border security initiative, stating that Texas now has a partner in President Trump to address illegal immigration and transnational crime.
This week, Abbott deployed tactical strike teams to support homeland security operations and issued five Executive Orders directing state agencies to collaborate with the Trump Administration on border enforcement.
Among the directives, Abbott’s orders include:
- Assisting federal immigration officers with investigations, arrests, and deportations.
- Deploying the Texas Tactical Border Force to support U.S. Border Patrol operations.
- Expanding border barriers to strengthen security between ports of entry.
- Enhancing intelligence-sharing on criminal organizations and foreign threats.
- Utilizing Texas state resources and facilities for detention and deportation operations.
Abbott emphasized that Texas will continue its Operation Lone Star efforts, which have resulted in over 530,800 apprehensions and 50,470 criminal arrests since its launch in 2021.
