Students in Ms. Zeyen’s Honors Biology class at Fort Stockton High School delved into the fascinating world of body systems this week. The curriculum focused on understanding how organ systems function, interact, and maintain homeostasis in living organisms.
As part of their learning, students designed a hands-on lab to explore how different factors impact human reaction times. Working in pairs, they measured their reaction times under various conditions, including after consuming energy drinks, exercising, and resting briefly.
The class discovered that energy drinks, physical activity, and short rest periods significantly improved reaction times, demonstrating the connections between the nervous, muscular, and circulatory systems. Following their experiments, students presented their findings, showcasing their scientific reasoning and data interpretation skills.
