On January 21, the City of Presidio finalized a lease agreement for the historic Slack Building, marking a significant step forward in preserving and utilizing this important landmark. Today, the city gratefully accepted a $30,000 donation from Mr. Clay Slack to support further improvements to the building.
The city has ambitious plans for the Slack Building, aiming to transform it into a community hub and tourist destination. Planned enhancements include the establishment of a tourist information center, planting shade trees, adding picnic tables, and creating a welcoming space for community events.
City officials expressed their gratitude to Mr. Slack for his generosity and support of the project. “This donation will help us turn the Slack Building into a valuable resource for both residents and visitors, showcasing Presidio’s heritage and providing a space for the community to gather,” a city representative stated.
