A routine traffic stop Thursday night resulted in a significant drug seizure and an arrest by the Brewster County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy initiated the stop after noticing a vehicle with a defective headlight. During a consensual search of the vehicle, authorities discovered 93 bundles of marijuana, weighing approximately 100 pounds, hidden in a rear compartment. Additionally, a small quantity of heroin was located in the vehicle.
The driver, identified as Imanol Guadalupe Mercado Cervantes, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. He was subsequently booked into the Brewster County Jail.
The Brewster County Sheriff’s Office did not release further details about the case.
