Online Auction Features Unique Artwork to Support Big Bend Conservation Alliance

The Big Bend Conservation Alliance (BBCA) has launched an online auction to benefit its Big Bend River Rangers program, which engages students in hands-on environmental education by taking them out of the classroom and into nature. The centerpiece of the auction is a one-of-a-kind artwork, The River is Home, created and donated by artist Dana Falconberry.

The piece, described as a “paintstitch,” combines acrylic paint with chainstitch embroidery on stretched canvas. Falconberry’s work is inspired by the natural beauty of the Big Bend region, particularly the Rio Grande and its surrounding landscapes. The 16″x20″ piece captures the vibrant contrasts of the river and desert terrain, reflecting the rich life and stark beauty of the area.

The auction opened on Monday and runs through midnight CST on Friday, January 24, 2025. Proceeds from the auction will directly support the River Rangers program, which helps teach students about protecting and stewarding the region’s river and land.

Bidding is available online at bbca.schoolauction.net/bigbendriverrangers. Those who participate not only have the chance to own a unique piece of art but also contribute to the continued success of an impactful conservation program.

The Big Bend Conservation Alliance extends its gratitude to all supporters who contributed to its end-of-year fundraising campaign, which provided essential resources to sustain its educational initiatives. With opportunities like this auction, the organization continues to connect art, community, and conservation in meaningful ways.
