Fort Stockton FFA Shines at Pecos County Livestock Show

The Fort Stockton FFA chapter kicked off its livestock show season with an impressive performance at the Pecos County Livestock Show this past weekend, earning top honors in multiple divisions and showcasing exceptional talent, especially among newcomers.

Rabbit Division

  • Isabella Espino earned Grand Champion with her rabbit, Chip.
  • Vicente Soto and Isaac Garcia, both freshmen, placed 3rd and 4th, respectively, in the heavyweight rabbit class.

Swine Division

  • Sophomore Rito Sauceda, competing for the first time, took home the titles of Champion Market Swine Dark OPB and Champion Breeding Gilt Spot.
  • Freshman Lorena Castillo was named Champion Breeding Gilt Yorkshire, and Junior FFA member Krystella Castillo secured 3rd place in the Berkshire Breeding Gilt class.
  • Sophomore Wallace Vazquez achieved Champion Breeding Hamp Gilt honors.

Freshman Carla Vazquez delivered a standout performance, sweeping several categories:

  • Grand Champion Barrow
  • Grand Champion Gilt
  • Champion titles with her Berk, Duroc, and WOPB gilts
  • Champion Cross Barrow
  • Senior Showmanship

Mrs. Galindo, a representative of the Fort Stockton FFA, praised the students’ achievements, saying, “This weekend’s results reflect an impressive overall accomplishment for Fort Stockton FFA, especially for our first-time participants. Their dedication and hard work were evident in every division.”
