Sul Ross State University (SRSU) invites outdoor enthusiasts to join a series of guided hikes on Hancock Hill, offering breathtaking views and insights into the region’s rich natural and cultural history. Each hike features a unique theme led by knowledgeable guides who will share their expertise with participants.

Hike Details
- Location: Hancock Hill Trailhead, 700 N Bird Street, Alpine, TX 79830
- Time: 9:00 – 11:00 AM
- Distance: 1.8 miles
- Elevation Gain: 383 feet
- Difficulty: Moderately strenuous with loose rocks and steep inclines
- Duration: 2 hours
- Capacity: 12 participants per hike, sign-up required
- Cost: Free
Preparation Tips
Participants are encouraged to wear sturdy, close-toed shoes, long pants, and sun protection. Bringing 1-2 liters of water and dressing in layers is also advised. Please note that hikes are contingent on weather and will not visit the iconic Sul Ross Desk.
