Texas National Guard Continues Razor Wire Maintenance Along Rio Grande as Part of Operation Lone Star

Texas National Guard soldiers are conducting regular maintenance and inspections of razor wire barriers along the Rio Grande River as part of Operation Lone Star, an initiative aimed at deterring and repelling illegal immigration at the Texas-Mexico border.

The razor wire barriers, a key element of the state’s border security strategy, require constant upkeep to ensure their effectiveness. Guard members stationed along the border are tasked with fortifying these barriers daily, as part of ongoing efforts to bolster security under the operation.

Operation Lone Star, launched under the direction of Governor Greg Abbott, focuses on increasing border enforcement through a combination of physical barriers, personnel deployments, and other measures. The program continues to be a cornerstone of Texas’s efforts to address challenges at the border.

This work highlights the Texas National Guard’s role in supporting state-level security operations and maintaining a visible presence in key areas along the Rio Grande. The daily inspections and reinforcements reflect the operation’s commitment to safeguarding the border and addressing illegal immigration concerns.
