The Lady Bucks junior varsity basketball team kicked off district play with a perfect start, securing victories against Kermit and Buena Vista. Meanwhile, the varsity team rebounded from a tough loss to Kermit with a strong win over Buena Vista on Tuesday and a decisive team victory against Tornillo last night.
In the varsity game against Buena Vista, Freshman Andynne Ramirez led the way with 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists. She was supported by Senior Hope Dominguez (5 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists), Sophomore Evelyn Smith (10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals), Sophomore Colette Fowlkes (9 points, 10 rebounds, 6 blocks), and Freshman Gyllian Morrissey (10 points, 2 steals, 1 block).
After their win against Tornillo, the Lady Bucks varsity team improved to 1-1 in district play and will return to the court on Tuesday to face Presidio.
