Presidio County Commissioners Court has reinstated the Historical Commission, appointing nine members after the previous board’s terms expired in 2022.
The newly appointed members include Martha Stafford, Sam Karas, Anibal Galindo, Bobbie Meader, Jesusita Mondragon, and Arian Velazquez-Ornelas. Returning members are Robert Arber and Terry Bishop. County Attorney Blair Park was added as a late appointee to ensure an odd number of voting members, citing her family’s historical ties to the area as her motivation for joining.
Officer roles within the commission will be determined at a later date. The Historical Commission plays a key role in preserving the county’s heritage and applying for state historical markers.
