The Big Bend Area Law Enforcement Officers Association (BBALEOA) is hosting its inaugural conference from January 19–21, 2025, at the DoubleTree Hotel in Midland, Texas. This event marks a significant milestone for the association, which represents law enforcement agencies across 21 counties in West Texas, including Brewster, Jeff Davis, Presidio, and Reeves counties.
Attendees will have access to 16 hours of free Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) certified training, provided by the Texas Association of Counties. The comprehensive program includes topics such as First Amendment Auditors, Employment Law and Liability, Leadership, Use of Force, Jail Administration, and Interpersonal Communications in Correctional Settings. The conference is designed for law enforcement officers, detention officers, jail administrators, and leadership personnel.
The event kicks off with an opening reception on January 19 from 5:00–7:00 p.m., followed by two days of interactive and hands-on training. Registration is free and open until filled, with discounted hotel room rates of $134 available until December 31, 2024. Organizers anticipate approximately 150 attendees, offering a unique opportunity to network with law enforcement professionals and decision-makers from across the region.
In addition to training, the conference will feature a vendor hall with 22 available booth spaces, providing a platform for companies to showcase products and services tailored to the needs of law enforcement agencies.
