Couple Returns to Davis Mountains State Park to Relive Special Memory

Last week, something magical happened at Davis Mountains State Park. Illiana and Nick, a couple with a deep connection to the park, returned five years after their first hike to the highest point, Limpia Creek Vista. Back in 2019, on January 2, early in their relationship, they signed the trail log tucked away in a green metal box at the summit. Now, they were back to find their entry, a timestamp of their beginnings, and reflect on how far they’d come.

The Limpia Creek Vista Trail offers more than just breathtaking views. At 8–9 miles round trip, it’s a challenging hike that rewards visitors with a chance to leave their mark in the trail log. Whether it’s a note, a sketch, or a simple signature, it’s a way to connect with the park and return years later to relive your memories, just like Illiana and Nick.

Ready to create your own story? Head to Point of Interest #9 on the park map, lace up your boots, and take the hike of a lifetime. Who knows what memories you’ll leave behind—or what you’ll rediscover when you return.
