New Business Planned for Former Harry’s Tinaja Location in Alpine

The iconic property that once housed Harry’s Tinaja, located at 412 E. Holland Avenue in downtown Alpine, is poised for a new chapter. Following the closure of the beloved bar after the owner’s passing, the building was put on the market. Now, a Planning and Zoning (P&Z) notice from the City of Alpine suggests a new business is preparing to move into the space.

Alpine Harry’s, LLC, has applied for a special use permit to secure a Wine and Malt Beverage Retail Dealer’s On-Premise Permit (BG) and a Late Hours Certificate (LH) from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. The permit would allow the operation of a bar at the location, which remains zoned as a C-2 Business District.

The name of the LLC, Alpine Harry’s, indicates the new establishment may retain the original name, preserving its connection to the community’s history.

Harry’s Tinaja, which operated as a popular bar and social hub for locals and tourists alike since 2007, closed after the property went on the market. With a prime location near East Highway 90 and ample parking, the building has long been considered a valuable asset.

If the permit is approved, the new business will contribute to the vibrant commercial landscape of downtown Alpine.
