Marathon Public Library Presents “Knowledge Night” Featuring Big Bend’s Ancient History

The Marathon Public Library is set to host an enlightening event at the Marathon Community Event Center this Friday. The event, named “Knowledge Night,” will be held at 106 NE 3rd Street, Marathon, TX, and is open to the public.

Park Archaeologist Tim Gibbs from Big Bend Ranch State Park will present his latest archaeological findings about the late prehistoric peoples of the Big Bend region. Gibbs’ presentation will shed light on the lives, cultures, and environments of these ancient groups, based on recent excavations and research.

This educational evening is part of the library’s efforts to bring significant historical insights to the community, fostering a deeper understanding of the region’s rich heritage. Attendees will discover how ongoing archaeological work is uncovering new details about the area’s early inhabitants and changing our perception of their existence in the rugged terrains of West Texas.
