Qualifications:
- Required: The ideal candidate will have over ten years of progressive professional experience in water-related administration, research, or advocacy, with at least five years in senior leadership roles. Substantial knowledge and experience in research project design, financial management, development, stakeholder relations, and staff accountability are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and spreadsheet software is required.
- Preferred: A doctorate in Hydrology, Geology, Natural Resource Science, Water Resource Management, or a closely related field is preferred. Candidates with substantial experience in the water sector and fluency in Spanish will have an advantage.
Responsibilities:
- The Director will lead the WTWRC in achieving its goals of providing the best science for water conservation and planning in West Texas. This includes developing strategic plans, conducting research, developing education programs, and engaging in service projects to assist the community. The role involves significant collaboration with university leadership, faculty, stakeholders, and external partners to foster the center’s growth and ensure its alignment with the university’s mission.
Additional Information:
- The position requires extensive travel, including some overnight and out-of-state trips. The successful candidate must maintain a current driver’s license and acceptable driving record as conditions of employment.

- The WTWRC is a strategic initiative housed temporarily by the Borderlands Research Institute and will transition to an independent institute within SRSU.
