Students and staff at Alpine Elementary School will be greeted with a bright start to their week as the school unveils upgraded lighting fixtures across classrooms and hallways. The recent Alpine Elementary Lighting Retrofit project, completed just in time for the school’s reopening, has replaced outdated fixtures with modern, American-made LED lights.

This significant improvement was made possible through a $90,000+ grant from the State Energy Conservation Office (SECO), which the district successfully applied for. The funds were utilized to enhance the lighting in some of the school’s oldest areas, including the cafeteria, library, science lab, and the 3rd and 4th-grade classrooms, in addition to the hallways.
The new LED lighting is not only more energy-efficient but also contributes to a brighter, more welcoming learning environment for the students. The shift to LED technology is expected to reduce the school’s energy costs and environmental footprint, aligning with broader sustainability goals.
Special thanks are extended to Kinkade Electric, whose expertise and diligent work over the past two weeks ensured the project’s completion before the return of the students and staff. Their efforts have helped make the school a shining example of how technology and environmental consciousness can go hand in hand in educational settings.
The successful implementation of this project has paved the way for future upgrades. The school hopes to secure additional SECO grants to continue improving its facilities, further enhancing the educational experience at Alpine Elementary.
With this upgrade, Alpine Elementary not only enhances its physical environment but also sets a precedent for integrating sustainability in educational infrastructure, making it a beacon of innovation and efficiency in the community.
