The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is looking for a dedicated Maintenance Specialist I (Operations Ranger) to join their team at Balmorhea State Park, located in Toyahvale, Texas. Job Description and Responsibilities: The selected candidate will perform entry-level building maintenance, construction work, and participate in the daily operations of park facilities. This role is crucial in ensuring that the park’s grounds and equipment are well-maintained and that visitors receive high-quality service. Responsibilities will include operating various types of equipment such as trucks, UTVs, mowers, and weed-eaters, providing visitor services, and assisting in enforcing park rules and regulations.
Work Environment and Schedule: This position requires a flexible schedule, with shifts that extend beyond the typical 8-5 workday and may include early mornings and late nights. The role demands a physical presence at the park, where working conditions can include outdoor labor in various weather conditions. Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have completed at least the 8th grade and possess one year of facility, equipment, or grounds maintenance experience. A valid state driver’s license is also required for the role.
