Discover Big Bend’s Natural Wonders on a Guided Nature Walk at Rio Grande Village

Nature enthusiasts and casual hikers alike are invited to explore the stunning landscapes of Big Bend National Park during a guided nature walk on Sunday, December 29, 2024. This free event, starting at 9:00 AM, offers a unique opportunity to learn about the diverse ecosystems along the Rio Grande.

Participants are asked to meet at the Rio Grande Nature Trail trailhead, located on the back side of the Rio Grande Village (RGV) Campground. Ample parking is available at the Amphitheater Parking Lot, and attendees should allow between five to ten minutes to walk through the campground to reach the trailhead.

The one-hour walk will cover various terrains, including steep steps and loose rocks, providing an engaging experience for visitors of all skill levels. Throughout the journey, a knowledgeable guide will share insights into the history of the area and the native plants that flourish in this desert oasis. Wildlife sightings might include roadrunners and javelinas, typical of the region.
