The Town of Pecos City has introduced vibrant new street signs in school zones around Pecos-Barstow-Toyah Independent School District (PBTISD) elementary campuses, enhancing both safety and community pride. The distinctive purple signs, which feature the Pecos Eagles mascot, are part of a city-led initiative to foster a more welcoming and secure environment for students, staff, and families.
This effort is spearheaded by the City’s Public Works and Street Departments, replacing older signage with these fresh, new designs that resonate with the community’s spirit. Currently, the updated signage is installed around elementary school areas, with plans already in motion to extend this initiative to middle and high schools in the future.
The new signs not only aim to improve road safety in school zones but also to strengthen school pride among students and residents alike, serving as a daily reminder of the community’s commitment to its youth and educational institutions.
