Jeff Davis County Livestock Show Celebrates Youth and Agriculture

The Jan and James Dyer Agricultural Building and Bob Dillard Memorial Show Barn hosted the 2024 Jeff Davis County Livestock Show on Saturday, December 21, offering a vibrant display of community and agricultural expertise.

The day began with animal weigh-ins at 9 am, followed by a series of livestock competitions starting at 10 am. Participants from the Fort Davis FFA and Jeff Davis County 4-H clubs showcased their livestock in an order that featured sheep, goats, pigs, and cattle, demonstrating the skills and dedication required in raising each species.

Lubbock’s Will Edwards judged the various animal categories, awarding buckles to grand and reserve champion exhibitors. These prizes, donated by local businesses and community supporters, celebrated the achievements of the young participants.

Enhancing the festive atmosphere, the Fort Davis High School Robotics Teams ran a concession stand, providing drinks and snacks to attendees and raising funds for their programs.

The 2024 Jeff Davis County Livestock Show not only highlighted the agricultural talents of local youth but also reinforced the community’s strong support for its developing agriculturalists.
