Valentine Independent School District celebrated Veterans Day with a special event that started dramatically as Lieutenant James “Jimmy” Morris and Ed Mayfield landed their helicopter on the school’s football field. Lt. Morris, a Marine Corps veteran and DPS officer since 2002, spoke about the importance of service and freedom. Following his speech, students performed songs, dances, and readings in honor of veterans. The event concluded with a lunch served by the Valentine Student Council, featuring soups, salads, breads, and desserts.
