After ongoing issues with posting required documents on the Presidio County website, local officials are considering training staff to handle updates internally rather than relying on the Texas Association of Counties (TAC). Recent failures to post election-related information have spurred calls for change, highlighting the need for more direct control over the county’s digital communications.
For years, updates to the county’s site, such as polling locations and commissioners court agendas, have been bottlenecked through TAC, leading to delays and inaccuracies. This process recently came under scrutiny when essential voting information was not posted in accordance with state law, revealing a systemic issue with the management of the county’s online presence.
County officials, including the County Clerk and County Auditor, expressed support for training staff to manage the website updates to streamline the process and enhance timeliness and accuracy. The move would allow for quicker updates and reduce the workload on the county judge’s overburdened assistant, who currently coordinates all web communications through TAC.
