A physical altercation between an assistant women’s soccer coach and a football player at Sul Ross State University has led to the departure of both individuals, according to a report by the Sul Ross State University Skyline Newspaper.
The incident involved former assistant coach Nuvia Guillen and former football player Cordrick Dunn, who allegedly became involved in a heated argument during a campus event earlier this fall. The confrontation reportedly escalated, with witnesses claiming that Dunn choked Guillen. According to Skyline‘s report, Guillen and Dunn were close friends and appeared to have been consuming alcohol at the time of the incident.
Following the altercation, Dunn was expelled from the university, and Guillen resigned from her coaching role.
Guillen had attended Sul Ross from 2018 to 2022 and had returned as an assistant coach for the women’s soccer team. Dunn, a senior running back for the Lobos football team, had been a prominent figure in the university’s athletic community.
University officials confirmed Guillen’s resignation and Dunn’s expulsion but declined to comment further on personnel matters, as reported by the Skyline.
