The Alpine Fightin’ Buck basketball teams kicked off their season with a strong showing in a Saturday scrimmage against the Midessa Warriors, a homeschool team from Midland/Odessa. Both Alpine teams performed impressively on their home court, with the junior varsity securing a 42-25 win and the varsity team cruising to an 80-26 victory.
Varsity’s leading scorers included returning player Ferris Daley, who contributed 21 points, along with newcomers Isaiah Jimenez and Dominyk Rodriguez, adding 18 and 13 points, respectively. The coaching staff praised the teams’ defensive efforts and noted offensive highlights, aiming to continue building skills on both ends of the court as the season progresses.
