Alpine and Fort Davis to Host Showmanship Clinics for Young Goat and Sheep Enthusiasts

This weekend offers a valuable learning opportunity for Jeff Davis County 4-H members and Fort Davis Schools FFA students interested in goat and sheep showmanship. Two clinics are scheduled to take place in Alpine and Fort Davis, aiming to teach the finer points of showmanship to both novices and seasoned young showmen.

The first clinic is set for this Saturday at 106 McBride Lane in Alpine, running from 10 a.m. to noon. This session is free of charge and will be an ideal chance for students currently showing sheep or goats, as well as those looking to start. Luke Hendryx, a seasoned expert in animal showmanship, will lead the clinic. Those interested in attending can contact Luke Hendryx directly at (432) 294-1749 for more details.

Following this, another clinic is planned for November 9 at the Bob Dillard Memorial Show Barn, located at 400 Webster Avenue in Fort Davis. This session will be led by Kelly Edwards and will cost $50 per participant. The clinic will start at 2 p.m. and continue until each participant has received personalized instruction. To register or for further information, contact Mayle Chambliss at (432) 940-0284.

These clinics represent a significant opportunity for young enthusiasts in the region to enhance their skills and knowledge in goat and sheep showmanship, under the guidance of experienced professionals. Both events are geared towards enriching the agricultural community and fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of livestock handling among the youth.
