The Alpine Fire Department is enhancing community safety through a successful initiative offering free smoke detectors to residents. Fire Chief James Etchison, speaking at the Alpine City Council meeting on October 15, revealed that approximately 70% of local homes lack smoke detectors. The project, funded by grants, aims to close this safety gap significantly.
Chief Etchison highlighted the department’s recent activities, which include not only the smoke detector project but also equipment acquisitions and the training of volunteer firemen. Alpine residents interested in obtaining a free smoke detector for their homes are encouraged to contact Chief Etchison at 432-538-2106 or via email at emc@co.brewster.tx.us.
