The Chinati Foundation, a celebrated art institution established by Donald Judd in Marfa, Texas, is currently seeking a Communications Manager to join their team. This full-time, salaried position is a critical role, focusing on enhancing the foundation’s external communications and supporting its design and publication projects.
Position Overview: Located at The Chinati Foundation on a historic 340-acre former military base, the Communications Manager will report directly to the Director of Operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing the foundation’s communication strategies across various platforms, ensuring that all programs and activities are effectively promoted and aligned with Chinati’s goals. This role is especially suited for early-career professionals with a passion for arts and publishing, offering a transformative career experience in a dynamic and inspiring setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage content for social media, email, and the Chinati website.
- Collaborate across departments to ensure cohesive communication strategies.
- Represent Chinati at public events and in community interactions.
- Manage the design and production of printed materials and digital publications.
- Coordinate public relations efforts, including press releases and media contacts.
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with modern and contemporary art.
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Experience with social media and content management tools such as WordPress and Constant Contact.
- Graphic design experience and Spanish language skills are advantageous.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to engage with community and media events.
Compensation and Benefits: The salary for this position ranges from $55,000 to $65,000, based on experience. The Chinati Foundation offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a 403(b) retirement plan. This position qualifies for the public service loan forgiveness program.
