The City of Marfa is on the lookout for a new City Manager to guide the strategic direction and oversee the delivery of city services. Applications are now open for this pivotal role within the administration of this quaint West Texas community of approximately 1,700 residents.
Under the council-manager form of government, the City Manager acts as the chief advisor to the Mayor and City Council. This role is crucial for leading the city’s financial and strategic planning, managing the budget, and supervising department heads. In addition to these duties, the City Manager will handle administrative tasks and aid in various special projects as required.
Candidates for this full-time position should bring a minimum of three years of experience as a City Manager or Assistant City Manager, preferably within Texas. A bachelor’s degree in business or public administration is also desired. However, the city will consider applicants with relevant experience in departmental management within municipal settings or comparable roles in other government agencies or the private sector.
A valid Texas driver’s license and a minimum education of a high school diploma or GED are essential for this role. Marfa seeks a leader with mature judgment, robust communication skills, and high ethical standards.
