Marfa City Council Approves Preliminary Tax Rate and Reviews Increased Appraisal District Budget

The Marfa City Council recently approved a preliminary tax rate of .328 per $100 taxable value, representing a 1.6% increase from last year, during a meeting focused on budget discussions. The council also reviewed the Presidio County Appraisal District’s (PCAD) budget, which is set to increase significantly due to new state mandates and the hiring of a more expensive valuation contractor. The council voted to allow the PCAD to retain surplus funds from the previous year and approved the district’s new budget.
