Judge Roy Ferguson, who presides over the 394th District Court of Texas, has been honored with the Patrick A. Nester Outstanding Achievement in CLE Award by TexasBarCLE, a division of The State Bar of Texas. This award recognizes a Texas attorney who has made significant contributions to continuing legal education (CLE) as a course director, speaker, author, or creator of new courses, thereby impacting the legal community’s ongoing education and professional development.
Judge Ferguson, who oversees the largest judicial district in Texas—spanning roughly 20,000 square miles and encompassing over 20% of the U.S.-Mexico border—expressed his gratitude for the recognition. “I am deeply honored and incredibly grateful to the Texas Bar College for this kind recognition, and to TexasBarCLE for giving me the opportunity to do something I love. I also want to thank the many wonderful co-presenters and panelists who made teaching so fun and easy,” he shared on social media.
Before his election to the bench in 2012, Judge Ferguson served the Far West Texas community through his private law practice in Marfa. His dedication to legal education and his substantial contributions to the profession have now been formally recognized with this esteemed award.
