Get an Exclusive Tour of Davis Mountains Preserve on August 9

Nature enthusiasts are invited to register for a guided tour of The Nature Conservancy’s (TNC) Davis Mountains Preserve on August 9, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This exclusive tour offers a unique opportunity to explore the highest country of the Davis Mountains, a sky island ecosystem home to rare plants and wildlife such as ponderosa pine, quaking aspen, Montezuma quail, mountain short-horned lizards, and Mexican black bears.

The tour includes a presentation on TNC’s conservation efforts in West Texas, a driving tour of the preserve, and an interpretive hike tailored to the group’s hiking abilities, ranging from easy to hard. Participants should bring a sack lunch, good hiking shoes, water, snacks, and binoculars. The Davis Mountains Preserve is not open to the public on these dates, so this guided tour provides a unique chance to experience this stunning natural refuge. Registration is limited to 12 participants, so early sign-up is encouraged. For more details or to register, contact Kaylee French at kaylee.french@TNC.org or call 432-426-2390.
