Bloys Camp Meeting Kicks Off Annual Gathering in Fort Davis

The annual Bloys Camp Meeting commenced on August 2, welcoming worshipers of all denominations for five days of worship and fellowship in the Davis Mountains of West Texas. Founded in 1890 by Rev. W.B. Bloys, the camp has grown from its humble beginnings, where 48 attendees slept in tents and wagons, to a significant event that now draws around 2,500 participants.

The Bloys Campmeeting Association, incorporated in 1902 by Baptist, Disciples of Christ, Methodist, and Presbyterian families, continues to uphold its tradition of gathering each August. Many attendees are fourth and fifth-generation participants, with some having attended for 60 or 70 consecutive years.
