Residents of Fort Stockton and surrounding Pecos County areas are set to welcome a new addition to their retail landscape as Dollar General announces the construction of a new store at the northeast corner of US Hwy 285 and E. 8th St. Slated for completion by September 1, 2024, this development aims to provide enhanced shopping convenience and accessibility to the community.
The new Dollar General Store, with an estimated construction cost of $600,000, will occupy a space of 10,640 square feet. The project, which breaks ground on April 1, 2024, is notable for its scope of work involving new construction of a pre-manufactured metal building designated for retail purposes. This addition to the Fort Stockton area is entirely privately funded, emphasizing Dollar General’s investment in serving the local community on private land for private use.
Currently, the town boasts a solitary Dollar General store located at 1001 W Dickinson Blvd, which has served as a primary shopping destination for residents. The introduction of a second location reflects Dollar General’s commitment to expanding its footprint in the area, catering to the growing demand for affordable retail options.
