Today, National Park Service issued the following notice to visitors of Big Bend National Park:
Beginning Monday, February 26 and continuing through Friday March 1, crews will be making emergency repairs along the western park entrance road. Visitors accessing Big Bend National Park from Highway 118 to the entrance near Study Butte/Terlingua will encounter single lane traffic and delays of up to one hour while crews repair a heavily eroded section of road base.
Work along the entrance road will begin each day at 10:00 AM and continue until approximately 6:00 PM. Park visitors are urged to arrive early. The other entrance to the national park at Persimmon Gap, located 39 miles south of Marathon, Texas along Highway 385 will remain fully open as usual.
