Fort Stockton High School Golf Teams Shine at Invitational Tournament

Fort Stockton High School’s golf teams, the Panthers and Prowlers, demonstrated exceptional skill and perseverance at the recent Fort Stockton Invitational, earning top honors and setting personal bests amidst challenging conditions.

Under the guidance of Coach Sanchez, the Prowlers, Fort Stockton High School’s girls’ golf team, clinched third place in the competitive field. The team, comprising Evelynn Baiza, Kaelynn Calderon, Erika Salgado, Lahela Urias, and Jaelynn Tapp, showcased their growing skills, with several members achieving personal best scores. Baiza led the effort with scores of 108 and 107 over the two-day event, while Calderon posted a personal best of 109.

The Panthers, the boys’ team, displayed remarkable tenacity, moving from second to first place on the tournament’s second day to secure the championship with a combined score of 698. This victory marks the team’s second consecutive win, highlighting their dominance in the sport. The team’s outstanding performance was bolstered by Ejay Ortiz, who outplayed 53 competitors to win individual first place with scores of 83 and 79 across the tournament days.

The Fort Stockton High School golf teams are not resting on their laurels, with the Panthers set to compete in the McCamey Invitational on Monday, and the Prowlers preparing for the Tall City golf tournament on Friday and Saturday.

This notable performance by both teams has not only brought pride to their school but also set a high bar for their upcoming competitions. The community eagerly anticipates their continued success and supports them as they represent Fort Stockton with distinction on the golf course.
