Sul Ross State University Rodeo Team Showcases Talent, Awards Scholarships at Annual Event

The Sul Ross State University Rodeo Team held its 2nd Annual Scholarship Showcase Rodeo, demonstrating exceptional talent and competition spirit in conjunction with the Lonestar Cowboy Poetry Gathering. This notable event spotlighted the rodeo skills of students, culminating in the awarding of scholarships to standout participants in various rodeo categories.

Among the scholarship winners, Brynn Clinton shone in Breakaway Roping, showcasing agility and precision that set her apart. In Steer Wrestling, Peter Haas and Dane Hass demonstrated remarkable strength and technique, earning them scholarships for their efforts. Saddle Bronc Riding saw Monte Faulkner and Clancy Newman riding to victory with their skillful performances, while Braylee Schill captured the top spot in Goat Tying with her speed and finesse.

The team roping category was fiercely contested, with Colton Williamson emerging as the scholarship recipient through excellent teamwork and coordination. Barrel Racing, known for its speed and accuracy, awarded scholarships to Ashlyn Renfroe and Teagan McKibben for their outstanding runs. Carson Simper rounded off the list of winners with a daring display in Bull Riding, showcasing the courage and skill that the sport demands.

The Sul Ross State University Rodeo Team’s partnership with the Lonestar Cowboy Poetry Gathering was pivotal in making these scholarships possible, highlighting the community’s support for the rodeo and its athletes.
