“Due West” Film Production Spans Across West Texas, Featuring Alpine, Marfa, and Marathon

The scenic landscapes and charming streets of West Texas have recently become the canvas for the film “Due West,” directed by the renowned Evan Miller. Not limited to a single location, the production has notably included scenes shot in Alpine, Marfa, and Marathon, capturing the essence and beauty of each locale. The project, highlighted by the participation of Adrianne Lee Palicki, known for her role as Tyra Collette in “Friday Night Lights,” has brought a wave of excitement to these communities.

Joh Covington of the Alpine Avalanche reported that Alpine’s East Holland Avenue was transformed into a bustling movie set last week, where both street scenes and specific locales, such as a room in Sazzon Baja Mex Restaurant, were used to create the film’s diverse settings. This room, interestingly, was reimagined as a pharmacy, demonstrating the creative lengths to which the production has gone to utilize local businesses and settings.

The choice to include Marfa and Marathon in the filming process underscores the filmmakers’ appreciation for West Texas’s unique landscapes and cultural tapestry. Each town brings its own flavor and history to the film, contributing to a richer, more authentic backdrop that is expected to captivate audiences.
