The National Park Service (NPS) has announced the selection of Casa Grande Hospitality, LLC, a subsidiary of Aramark, to provide concession services within Big Bend National Park. This decision marks the beginning of a new 15-year contract (CC-BIBE002-24) encompassing lodging, food and beverage, fuel, retail, RV park, and other essential visitor services within the park, set to commence on July 1, 2024.
Aramark, the incumbent operator, has been serving Big Bend National Park since its acquisition of Forever Resorts in 2022. “We look forward to a successful relationship with Casa Grande Hospitality,” stated Acting Park Superintendent Kendell Thompson. “They are a critical partner with the NPS in providing essential amenities for our ½ million annual visitors.”
The selection of Casa Grande Hospitality follows a routine process governed by the 1998 Concessions Management Improvement Act (1998 Act). According to NPS regulations, all concession contracts undergo a fully open and competitive solicitation process, with contracts awarded to entities submitting the most favorable proposals.
Concession services play a vital role in enhancing the visitor experience within national parks, providing essential amenities and services to millions of visitors each year. As stewards of America’s natural and cultural heritage, the NPS prioritizes partnerships with organizations like Casa Grande Hospitality to ensure the preservation and enjoyment of these iconic landscapes for future generations.
