True Roll to Conduct Property Audits for Presidio County Homes Starting This Month

In a bid to ensure fair and accurate property tax assessments, True Roll, a company specializing in property audits, is set to embark on a comprehensive audit of approximately 1,500 homesteaded properties within Presidio County. This initiative, aimed at identifying and rectifying instances of homeowners claiming dual homestead exemptions on the same property, is commencing this month.

According to reporting by the Big Bend Sentinel, the audit process is estimated to take approximately six weeks. During this time, True Roll’s team of experts will meticulously examine property records, tax filings, and other relevant documentation to ascertain compliance with homestead exemption regulations.

Presidio County Appraisal District (PCAD) has been proactive in addressing this issue to ensure that property taxes are levied fairly and equitably. Dual homestead exemptions can result in inaccuracies in property valuations and potentially lead to unintended tax benefits for homeowners.
