Alpine Police Investigate Reports of Gunshots, Seek Community Assistance

In the early hours of Sunday, January 7, 2024, the quiet of Alpine was disrupted by reports of possible gunshots, prompting a swift response from local law enforcement. The Alpine Police Department (APD), assisted by Brewster County Sheriff’s Deputies and Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers, is currently investigating two separate incidents on the southeast and southwest sides of the town.

The first report of gunshots came in at approximately 1:16 am from the southeast area of Alpine, with a second call following at around 3:51 am from the southwest side. Officers from the APD, along with supporting units from the Sheriff’s Office and DPS, were promptly dispatched to both locations.

As of now, the investigations into these incidents are active and ongoing. Law enforcement officers have been diligently meeting with witnesses and reviewing video footage from the affected areas in an effort to piece together the events. Despite these efforts, there are currently no suspects identified in connection with the reports.

Fortunately, no injuries or property damage have been reported in relation to these incidents. However, the APD is taking these reports seriously and is committed to ensuring the safety and security of the Alpine community.
