Alpine Teachers Receive New Laptops Thanks to $70,000 Grant from Permian Basin Area Foundation

Alpine Independent School District’s (Alpine ISD) dedicated educators have reason to celebrate as they embrace a new era of teaching, all thanks to a generous $70,000 grant from the Permian Basin Area Foundation (PBAF). With these brand-new laptops, teachers, counselors, and attendance clerks are poised to enhance their instructional prowess and administrative efficiency, marking a significant leap forward in Alpine’s educational landscape.

For years, many staff members at Alpine ISD had been using aging laptops, some as old as six years. While the district’s technology department had made diligent efforts to update and refurbish these devices, it was clear that a comprehensive upgrade was overdue.

Due to persistent underfunding, the school district faced budget constraints that prevented them from allocating funds in their 2023-2024 budget for these much-needed updates. That’s where PBAF stepped in.

The partnership between Alpine ISD and PBAF has a history of success, with previous collaborations including the renovation of the Alpine Elementary School library, school supplies drives, and more. Mrs. Caroline Fox spearheaded outreach efforts, and her dedication, combined with past achievements, played a significant role in securing the remarkable $70,000 donation for new teacher laptops.

Alpine ISD combined the PBAF donation with instructional material funds and grant money received to support blended learning initiatives. This allowed the district to fulfill the purchase order for the laptops, ensuring that teachers are well-equipped for their educational roles.

In a heartwarming surprise, district leaders recently distributed the brand-new laptops to teachers throughout the district. The excitement and gratitude were palpable as educators received these valuable tools to enhance their teaching capabilities.

The Alpine ISD Tech Pros, Darin Nance and Jesse Crim, played a pivotal role in preparing these devices for staff members on a short timeline, ensuring a smooth transition to the new technology.

Alpine ISD expressed profound gratitude to PBAF for their ongoing support of the district’s endeavors. The generous donation not only provides essential tools for teachers but also highlights the incredible impact that community partnerships can have on education.

This act of generosity from Permian Basin Area Foundation serves as a testament to the power of community support, making a positive difference in the lives of educators and students in Alpine ISD. It is a reminder that when communities come together, remarkable things can happen in education, and opportunities for learning are expanded.

As Alpine ISD looks to the future, they do so with renewed vigor, thanks to the support of PBAF and their commitment to the betterment of education in the region.
