In a heart-pounding conclusion to a week-long search, 25-year-old Christy Perry, who was last seen nine days ago when she rented a car, was located today in the rugged and treacherous terrain of Big Bend National Park.

Christy Perry’s ordeal began on November 9 when she embarked on a hiking trip to Big Bend National Park. However, concerns arose when she failed to return as scheduled. Her rental car had been discovered nine days ago, triggering a search and rescue operation that commenced earlier this week.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. on November 17, National Park Service search and rescue teams, joined by a coalition of dedicated responders from the U.S. Border Patrol, Los Diablos Fire Crew, Texas Parks and Wildlife, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and Texas Department of Public Safety, located Perry approximately 1/4 mile below the summit of the Lost Mine Trail.

The terrain in this part of Big Bend National Park is known for its steep and challenging nature, and harrowing photos from the rescue mission underscore the formidable obstacles the search and rescue teams faced. Despite these difficulties, their unwavering commitment led to the successful discovery of Christy Perry, who was found awake and able to communicate.

Following the rescue, Perry is currently being airlifted by a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter to Odessa, Texas, where she will receive the necessary medical attention.
