This past Friday, The Granada Theatre in Alpine was abuzz with film aficionados eagerly watching “Second Chance.” This film, showcased as part of the “Our Texas, Our Future” docuseries, tells the tale of black bears that, after being driven out of Texas in the 1900s, have made a slow and steady return to their historic habitat.

The story dives into the intriguing collaboration between the Borderlands Research Institute and West Texas ranchers. Together, they are on a quest to understand the reasons behind this unexpected return.
The evening was not just limited to the film screening. Attendees also had the opportunity to engage in a comprehensive Q&A session, followed by a spirited after party at The Ritchey Wine Saloon & Beer Garden.
The project owes its existence to Fin and Fur Films and the generous support of the local grocery chain, H-E-B. Both have shown a keen interest in narrating the multifaceted tales that shape the Lone Star State.
For those who missed the eventful night, the complete docuseries is available for viewing at OurTexasOurFuture.com/stories. Dive deep into the captivating stories that define Texas.
