Marfa Studio of Arts Hosts Silent Auction to Fund School Art Program

The Marfa Studio of Arts announces an upcoming art auction dedicated to supporting the Studio in the Elementary program, which introduces Marfa Elementary School students to the wonders of artistic creation.

Scheduled to begin on Labor Day weekend, this silent auction and salon-style exhibition will showcase works donated by local artists and art enthusiasts. Interested members of the public can place their bids until September 30.

Artists are encouraged to donate existing pieces or create special works specifically for the event. Contributions from various artistic mediums are welcome, as long as they do not exceed 24 inches in any dimension. A unique “Buy Now” option will be available for those keen on securing a specific artwork without waiting for the auction to conclude.

The Studio in the Elementary program, now in its 18th year, has benefited from the consistent support of the Marfa Studio of Arts, a non-profit organization that has championed community art since 2000. Proceeds from the auction will be directly allocated to the children’s art initiative, ensuring its continuation for the 2023-24 school year.

Contributing artists can deliver their pieces to the Marfa Studio of Arts during gallery hours from August 15 to 19 and August 22 to 26 between 1-5 p.m. Those unable to personally deliver their artworks during these dates can make special arrangements or opt to mail their pieces to P.O. Box 1189, Marfa, Texas 79843.

Community members and artists are invited to participate in this significant effort, celebrating the transformative power of art. Through this initiative, the Marfa Studio of Arts aims to foster a thriving artistic future for the children of Marfa.
