The Smoke in the Mountain BBQ & Ribeye Shootout, held on June 9th and 10th, was a resounding success, raising a total of $50,000. The generous donations were distributed equally among five entities: Fort Davis Volunteer Fire Department, Davis Mountain Resort Volunteer Fire Department, Valentine Volunteer Fire Department, Cherry Creek Volunteer Fire Department, and The Mountain Medics.

The event, which featured various meat competitions and jackpots, attracted participants and spectators alike, all contributing to the cause of supporting the First Responders of Jeff Davis County. The funds will assist these dedicated individuals in carrying out their vital work in the community.
Visitors to Fort Davis were treated not only to the BBQ and ribeye competition but also had the opportunity to explore the charming downtown area, including Doug Moreland’s new wood sculptor shop and enjoy his entertaining musical performances.
The Smoke in the Mountain BBQ & Ribeye Shootout was a true testament to community spirit and support for First Responders.
