Rock N Raul’s Smokehouse Sizzles in Fort Davis, Rekindling Family BBQ Legacy

Rock N Raul’s Smokehouse, a family-owned restaurant in Fort Davis, Texas, is reviving the legendary barbecue recipes of its founders’ Great Uncle Raul. The small-town eatery, which recently celebrated its first month in business, pays tribute to the mouth-watering barbecue once praised as the best in Texas by The Texas Observer in 1999.

Rock N Raul’s is run by a husband and wife team. With years of trial and error, they have perfected their homemade offerings, using third-generation family recipes for the brisket, salsa verde, and barbecue sauce. While the restaurant currently outsources corn tortillas and sandwich buns, they plan to make them from scratch in the future.

Open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Rock N Raul’s Smokehouse accepts cash only and offers a mouth-watering menu that includes brisket, ribs, sandwiches, tacos, potato cakes, and drinks. As their first month in business comes to an end, the owners invite locals and visitors alike to join them for a meal that will make them say, “I’ve been going since they first opened!”

The restaurant has already received rave reviews on Facebook, with Mary H. writing, “Great food! My son and I spent a few days in Ft. Davis where there are not many options for good food. Rock N Raul’s Smokehouse was a great find. The BBQ was excellent as were the sides. Highly recommended!”
