Historic Ferguson Motor Co. Building in Sanderson Serves Coffee, Meals and Lodging

A historic West Texas auto dealership building in downtown Sanderson has found new life as a coffee shop, food stop and lodging destination.

Ferguson Motors, located at 111 W. Oak St., now operates as a café serving organic coffee and tea sourced from Big Bend Coffee Roasters, along with breakfast, lunch and pizza options. The business offers indoor and outdoor seating and functions as a gathering spot for residents and travelers passing through the small Terrell County community.

The café menu includes espresso drinks, cold brew and specialty beverages alongside breakfast sandwiches, bagels and baked goods. Lunch offerings feature hot sandwiches such as ham and cheese, turkey and cheese, tuna melts and Texas cheesesteaks. The kitchen also prepares sourdough pizzas with toppings including pepperoni, barbecue chicken and jalapeño.

Extras such as bacon, ranch and additional toppings are available, and customers can build their own pizzas with a variety of meats and vegetables.

The building also incorporates short-term lodging options connected to the property, reflecting a growing trend of small-town West Texas businesses combining hospitality and food service to serve road-trippers and regional visitors.

Located along U.S. Highway 90 in Sanderson, Ferguson Motors occupies a central place in the town’s small but evolving downtown business district. The café has quickly gained strong local support, with early online reviews recommending the spot as a welcoming stop for coffee, meals and relaxation in the remote borderlands community.
