Montana Firm Awarded $960 Million Contract for Presidio County Border Wall Project

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has awarded a $960 million contract to Barnard Construction Company of Bozeman, Montana, to build a border barrier along the Rio Grande in Presidio County.

The project is expected to run from the Hudspeth-Jeff Davis county line to the community of Ruidosa in northwestern Presidio County. The same contractor also received additional federal contracts for wall construction in Hudspeth County and near Del Rio.

County records obtained through the Texas Public Information Act show that representatives associated with the project began contacting Presidio County officials in January regarding permits and infrastructure related to the construction effort.

Barnard Construction, founded in 1975, has worked on large infrastructure projects across the United States.

The contract award was first reported by the Big Bend Sentinel.
